World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations to honour people who have been displaced from their homes and have become refugees. People become displaced for a variety of reasons ranging from political conflict to environmental disasters. World Refugee Day aims to bring awareness to the hardships facing refugees globally, commemorate their bravery and courage, and mobilise political action to support and protect refugees ensuring that they thrive.
