Thanksgiving
26 November

Thanksgiving is celebrated in the US on the fourth Thursday in November. It is a time for families to gather and reflect on the year that has passed, giving thanks for the things they are grateful for.
Thanksgiving originated in 1621 when the English colonists – often called Pilgrims – from Plymouth, Massachusetts, shared a feast with the native Wampanoag people to give thanks for a successful harvest.
Traditionally, a large family meal of roast turkey, potatoes, cranberries and pumpkin pie is served on the day – this is said to be based on the harvest feast of 1621.
