Remembrance Day
11 November

Remembrance Day occurs each year on 11 November, marking the end of World War One. The war officially ended at 11am, the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.
A two-minute silence is held in commemoration of the service members who lost their lives during conflict. This began in 1919 – the first anniversary of the end of the war.
Today, Remembrance Day commemorates all British and Commonwealth service members who have lost their lives in conflicts, including the World Wars.
