Covering 70% of the Earth, the oceans are crucial for sustaining life. World Oceans Day was established by the United Nations to bring awareness to the negative human impact on the oceans from pollution, overconsumption and exploitation of ocean resources. The United Nations aims to highlight sustainable practices regarding ocean resources and replenish ecosystems that had been previously divested, with the theme for World Oceans Day 2024 being Catalyzing Action for Our Ocean & Climate.
