April Fools Day

April 1

The origins of April Fools Day are unclear, however, historians speculate the holiday originates in France in 1582 when they switched to the Gregorian calendar. People who failed to notice the change where the new year was now 1 January, as opposed to the Spring Equinox, became the butt of jokes and pranks. Many today celebrate by playing pranks on friends and family and shouting ‘April Fools!’ following the completion of the prank.
