Hanukkah
14 December - 22 December

Hanukkah – the Jewish festival of light – is commemorated over the course of eight days.
The celebrations are marked by the nightly lighting of a menorah, playing dreidel and eating traditional fried foods such as latke.
Hanukkah is a time to remember the rededication of the Holy Temple by the Maccabees after a three-year-long war. When going to light the menorah, the Maccabees found only enough oil to last for one day. However, miraculously, this small drop of oil burned for eight days. The ceremonial lighting of the menorah, along with eating foods cooked in oil during Hanukkah, is used to remember the long-lasting oil from this night.
